Delete your Fluid Friction account
Last updated: 18 April 2026
Developer: Manfred Mjengwa, trading as Fluid Friction.
In short
You can delete your Fluid Friction / Fluid OS account and all server-side data at any time, either from inside the app or by email. Deletion is free and we do not ask for a reason.
This page is here so you can request deletion even if you've already uninstalled the app or can't sign back in. It satisfies Google Play's account-deletion requirement and complements the rights described in our Privacy Policy.
Do I have an account?
You have an account if you signed in to the Friends social layer using Google, email / password, or as an anonymous Friends user. If you only used the core friction and wellbeing tools without ever signing in, there is no server-side account to delete, all your data is already only on your device, and uninstalling the app (or using Android Settings → Apps → Fluid Friction → Storage → Clear Data) removes it all.
Option 1: Delete inside the app (fastest)
- Open Fluid Friction.
- Tap the Friends tab at the bottom.
- Tap your profile avatar in the top-right corner.
- Tap Account, then Delete account.
- Read the confirmation screen, then tap Delete permanently.
Your Firebase account, your Firestore profile, your social content, your friend links, and your local Friends cache are removed immediately. You'll be signed out and returned to the anonymous experience. The action cannot be undone.
If you also want to clear every local preference, screen-time record, behavioural event, and cached icon, follow the in-app deletion with Android Settings → Apps → Fluid Friction → Storage → Clear Data, or uninstall the app.
Option 2: Delete by email
If you've uninstalled the app, can't sign in, or simply prefer to have us do it, email [email protected] with the subject line "Delete account". Include at least one of:
- the email address you used to sign in, or
- your friend code (an 8-character string like
AB23-CD67), or - your Firebase UID (if you know it).
We verify the request is coming from the account holder by replying to the email address on file and asking you to confirm. Once you confirm, we delete the account within 7 days. You'll get a final email when deletion is complete.
If you never provided an email (anonymous Friends), we'll ask for additional information such as your friend code, rough sign-up date, and the nickname on the account to verify you before deleting.
What gets deleted
When your account deletion completes, we remove the following from Google Firebase:
- Your Firebase Authentication record (email, UID, sign-in provider tokens)
- Your Firestore user profile: nickname, friend code, theme choice, health score, streaks, rank, quest progress, timestamps
- Your haikus, stories, replies, reactions ("bows")
- Your friend-link records on both sides of each friendship
- Your friend-code lookup entry
- Your referral code and any unclaimed referral records
- Your leaderboard / rank entry
- Any app preferences that were synced to Firestore
- Your local Friends cache (signed out on your device)
Deletion from live Firestore is effectively immediate. Deletion from Google's disaster-recovery backups happens according to Firebase's published 180-day cycle.
What's retained (and why)
The Google Play account-deletion policy lets us retain specific categories of data where there is a legitimate reason. For Fluid Friction, that means:
- Google Play Billing records. If you ever bought Fluid Pro, Google Play keeps your purchase record under its own retention rules for tax, consumer-protection, and refund purposes. We don't control that retention and can't delete it on your behalf. Google does not share your personal payment data with us.
- Firebase Authentication records. Google retains deleted-auth records for up to 180 days per its published policy, then purges them.
- Diagnostic crash reports (if you opted in). Firebase Crashlytics retains anonymous crash stack traces for up to 90 days and then purges them automatically. Crash reports don't contain your personal data.
- Support email. If you emailed us before (support, bug report, feedback), we keep that email thread for up to 24 months so we can follow up on multi-step issues.
- Legal, fraud, and abuse records. If your account was involved in a reported abuse, safety, or legal matter, we may keep minimal records needed to defend a claim or satisfy a regulator. We will not use those records for any other purpose.
Everything not listed above is deleted.
Cancel Fluid Pro before you delete
Deleting your account does not automatically cancel a Fluid Pro subscription. Subscriptions are managed by Google Play, not by us. If you're on an active Fluid Pro subscription, cancel it first in the Google Play app: Play Store → profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Fluid Friction → Cancel subscription. Then come back and delete your account. Cancelling doesn't refund past periods; contact Google Play if you want a refund.
Don't want to fully delete? Partial options
- Stop syncing without deleting. Sign out of Friends (Friends tab → profile → Account → Sign out). Your local data stays on your device; your server-side profile remains so you can come back to it. If you want the server-side profile to also go, request deletion.
- Reset the app on your device. Settings → Advanced → Reset app clears local preferences and re-runs onboarding. It does not delete a Friends account; follow up with in-app deletion if you want the server side gone too.
- Delete only specific content. Haikus, stories, replies, and reactions can be deleted individually from their detail view.
- Remove a specific friend link. Friends tab → friend → Remove friend.
Residents of the EEA, UK, California, Brazil, and other regions
If you live somewhere with a dedicated privacy law (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA / CPRA, LGPD, PIPEDA, POPIA, DPDP, Privacy Act, etc.), you also have the right to request a copy of your data (access), correction (rectification), portability, and limits on processing, in addition to deletion. Use the same email address, [email protected] with the subject "Privacy request", and we'll respond within the statutory window (typically 30 days).
How you'll know it's done
- In-app deletion. The app shows a confirmation screen ("Your account has been deleted") and signs you out. Try signing in again with the same email and you'll be treated as a new user with no history.
- Email deletion. You'll receive a final confirmation email within 7 days of you confirming the request.
